I was asked to make a sample for The Scrapbooking Studio in Bloomington using the My Mind's Eye - Lost & Found - Rosy collection. After looking at the colors I knew I wanted sepia pictures. Decided on an acrylic 6x12 album using thumbnail and wallet size sepia pictures. I really liked how it turned out. (Even if my adorable husband did not like being the subject of an entire project.)
Well, after officially retiring from working a year and a half ago, I thought I was done. My family needed me more, and I wanted to be there more for them. Well, I should have known that life has a way of changing when you least expect it. Last month I found out a new scrapbook store called The Scrapbooking Studio was going to be opening a second store. A new store was coming to my area. Woohoo!!
It turns out, I knew some of the ladies who were going to be working there. It also turns out, that the owner was looking for one more person to work a few evenings a week. This is where my retirement ended. My kids seemed to be doing well, and life seems a little more organized. I could do this!!
Working again!! Woohoo!! I have missed being creative, so it fit in perfect. We opened the doors for The Scrapbooking Studio here in Bloomington, IL on September 17th. People really seem to enjoy the store and we are having a blast.
Thank you Amy for coming to Bloomington!!
Ok, the kids have been on summer break FOREVER. Thankfully, they will be going back to school soon. That should make keeping the blog up to date a lot easier.
Scrapbooking - The major scrapbook project right now is my daughters 4H project about her June 2011 mission trip to Mexico. Letting her do her own thing and not helping at all. This is VERY hard for me. I want to give direction, I want to do it my way. I want to use LESS of my tape runners and not leave the lids off the Copics. Oh well, my turn to be more mom and less crafter. Will post pictures of it once it is judged at the 4H fair next week.
What am I working on - Actually just acquired a bunch of furniture for my future craft room. Hubby has it all framed. Electrical is next. I currently have a table and chairs, paper rack, shelves, and extra table. All items will need sanded and painted or stained. Also acquired a bunch of slat wall, hooks, and baskets. This room is going to be SO AWESOME when finished. Here is how it currently looks:
Alright, I think that catches this blog up to date to what I have been doing. Looking forward to school starting so I can start on Halloween projects. Been scouring the internet for cute ideas. Absolutely LOVE all the Halloween paper lines that were released at CHA, so excited to get my hands on some soon for future projects.
