Boo!! Halloween Deco Arts Canvas

As many of my friends know, I absolutely LOVE Halloween. It is tied with Christmas for BEST holiday in my book. That fact was in my head after I was named a Deco Art Blogger. What can I do for Halloween??

I decided on a canvas, and thankfully Deco Art thought it was a good idea.
Here is what I designed with the products they sent me:

I had so much fun just letting go and painting this canvas.

Supplies Used:
  1. Tear tissue paper into random pieces and crumple up to make it wrinkly.

  2. Decou-Page tissue paper to front of 12x12 black canvas. Let dry.
  3. Squirt both oranges and white paint on front of canvas and blend together.
  4. While canvas is still wet - draw a spooky tree with the end of a paint brush. Dry.
  5. Paint entire canvas with Glow in the dark paint. (After all of the other painting this does not glow a whole lot, but it does shine a little in the dark)
  6. Paint spooky tree over etched tree. Dry.
  7. Darken edges of canvas with more black and add white and black sprays of paint all over front of canvas.
  8. When completely dry seal with gloss sealer.
I think my first attempt at a spooky tree was pretty successful. I love that it is obviously a Halloween canvas, but without the overt Halloween symbols like a pumpkin or witch.

A bonus Behind The Scenes shot of me, a mom, trying to take photos on a Midwest gloomy day. (Notice the kids poptarts left out beyond my backdrop? LOL)

Well, I hope you enjoyed my take on a Halloween canvas. Please everyone have a safe, creative, fun, and spooky Halloween week.

Halloween Hand Wall - Genuinely Jane Studios / Linnie Blooms Blog Hop

Welcome to the Genuinely Jane Studios (GJS) and Linnie Blooms Blog Hop! If you came from Pinky then you are in the right place. If not, and you would like to start at the beginning, please head over to the Linnie Blooms Blog.

The Hop will start today and last until 11:59 PM EST on Frieday the 11th.

Each of ladies, on both companies Design Teams, were asked to design an individual project using a wood album from GJS and our choice of products from Linnie Blooms. Here is my project:

Halloween Hand Wall
I decided to add to my Halloween decorations by making a Hand Wall. This idea has been rolling around in my head for a while, so I am so happy to have finally done it.

This is the entry wall of my house, just as you walk in the door. These frames hang here year round, with my kids pictures in them. I just decorated an 8x10 sheet of scrapbook paper and hung it in the frames instead of the pictures.

Supplies I used:
*** I used 3 of the 4 pages of the book on three seperate frames. Two are covered in scrapbook paper and the front window one was painted black.
Tim Holtz Distress Ink Black Soot
8 Jewelry Hands (Bought at Michael's using coupons)
Gorilla Glue Super Glue
6 - 8x10 Non-Glare .5 Acrylic sheets
*** I bought these at Home Depot to put in the frames so I could glue the hands directly to them. I did not want to glue to the glass because I use these frames for my kids pictures other times of the year. I did try just using acrylic from the scrapbook store, but it did not adhere well and we had a hand fall off and shatter. At the end of the season, we will dismantle these and store them until next year, oh ya, and the kids pics will go back up.

I absolutely LOVE IT!!!! My family thinks I am a bit nutso, but that is nothing new.

And because we love our followers, each company has generously offered up a prize! Two lucky winners will be chosen at the end of the hop to receive the following:

GJS - Gift Certificate for Wood Albums valued at $15
Linnie Blooms - One long Blank canvas and 3 shaped.

How to Win: Leave a comment on all of the blogs in the hop. The lineup is listed below for reference!
