WOYWW #195

It's Wednesday!!! So What's on your workdesk?
Mine is a mess again!!

This week, I have been working on Design Team Stuff for Genuinely Jane Studios, finished up some samples to apply for a Guest Design Team Spot with Donna Salazar, and painted the painting below this post. Unfortunately, I can not share any of it except the painting below. I promise I will as soon as I can.

On my desk is a complete mess. Similar to last weeks desk, but different. LOL. I did manage to finally design and order business cards and you can see those in the middle of the desk. Very excited about them. They turned out great.

If you would like more info about WOYWW, please pop over to Stamping Ground and our fearless leader Julia will explain all the fun. You can find all the intricate details here. Think of it as a legal way to nose around and see what other people are doing. It's tons of fun and you will meet gobs of people around the world. If you want to join in on the fun or just nose around, then check out this weeks post at:

Life List Flower

Life List. Do you have one?

Life List, Bucket List, Life Goals - Call it whatever you want!! It is basically a list of things, God willing, that you hope to accomplish in your lifetime.

Truth is, I started a list a long time ago. I have a document on my computer called Bucket List, and I occasionally add things to it. I used to put an asterisk by the ones that I did finally accomplish, but I ended that years ago. I am just not the type of person to look back at my life. Good or bad or ugly, no matter what happened in the past, it made me who I am today. I like looking toward the future. My family may say I like to PLAN and PLAN some more. That isn't 100% true. I have faith that God has a plan for my life and he will lead me where He wants me to be.  Who I do not have faith in is myself. What if God is directing me, and I am too busy to hear him? It is something I struggle with always. I often pray, "God help me not to screw up Your plan." I'm a mess, I know, but thankfully God still loves me.

So, my bucket list is more a wish list. These are things I wish to do, and I pray that if they are also things God wants me to do someday, then I hope I don't somehow mess up His plan.

My dear friend Tracy Weinzapfel challenged our Monday Night Mixed Media group to design something using our Bucket List. The following is my Life List Flower. It has 5 petals to represent me, my hubby, and my three kiddos. The list does not only include things I wish to do, but things I wish to do with them. So, since the list and our five lives are intertwined always, I decided to write the list on the individual petals.

I pray my art inspires you!!
Create, work outside your comfort zone, and enjoy!!
Lori

And an FYI for my fellow painters and crafters - you can put India Ink in a spray bottle
and use it as a spray paint, but plan on scrubbing your hand for days if
you forget to wear rubber gloves. UGH. I am a dork. LOL.

Because this is my Life List, I am not selling this piece of art, but if you are interested
in similar pieces of art, please check out my Etsy store at:

It looks like something exploded - WOYWW #194

Ok, not really. But it certainly looks like it!! Such a mess!!!

The mini album in the middle is turned over so you can not see what it looks like. Sorry. It is a Design Team Project for Genuinely Jane Studios. Check out their Facebook page at the link. They are a great company that will have their new website and catalog go live by the 1st of March. I was asked to be on their 2013 Design Team and am having a blast with them. Great quality, handmade, made in the USA wood mini albums. I will add a blog post about the album after it is revealed at GJS.

So, what is WOYWW? Well, it stands for What Is On Your Workdesk Wednesday. It is a weekly blog hop hosted by our fearless leader Julia. Simply, it is just a nice way for people around the world to nose around and see what everyone is up to in their studios. Check out her blog for the current participants and how you can get involved in the future.

I wanted to quickly share the canvas I started 2 weeks ago. (My WOYWW buddies saw it just white) This canvas was started for a friend. Her dear husband had an accident and they have both been dealing with his Traumatic Brain Injury since the accident. The moment I found out about his accident, I started this canvas for them. I have sent her pictures of the canvas and we plan to get together soon so I can give it to her. I ask that anyone who reads this to please keep Doug and Karol in your thoughts and prayers. They have a long hard journey ahead of them and the more people lifting them up the better.

Valentine Tag

I have had a pretty stressful week, so no projects have been started or finished. That makes me very sad. To improve my disposition, I decided to share a project I did last Valentine's Day. This was part of a 4 part tag class that I taught last year. I now use it as part of my Valentine decorations on my bookshelf.

It is a simply tag, but owe so cute.

Instructions:
1) Ink entire tag with Aged Mahagony Distress Ink by Ranger's Tim Holtz.
2) Spray tag slightly with Marshmallow Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist. (You can not see it in the picture, but the whole tag shimmers)
3) Stamp Tag with Happy Valentine's Day Stamp and black ink.
4) Cut a heart out of Tim Holtz Grungeboard. Emboss the heart with any background embossing image you like. Then Ink the heart with Aged Mahagony and Black.
5) Tie Pink and White Time around tag and to hole in tag.
6) Stamp Tim Holtz Love ticket onto white cardstock. Ink edges with Aged Mahogany.
7) Attach ticket and heart to tag with Dimensional Glue Dots.
8) Add a Tim Holtz Hinge Clip to side of tag.

I hope this old, but adorable tag inspires you to
create, enjoy, and share some Valentine LOVE!!!
Hugs - Lori

What's on your workdesk? Wednesday - WOYWW #192

Well, first and foremost - I missed last week. Will explain in a second. If you don't have any idea what WOYWW is, then check out Julia's weekly starter post at:

Just a fun way for a bunch of us to nose around other peoples spaces and get creative ideas.

Second - Here is the current state of my desk. Just a hodge podge of piles really. (Because I am currently working on my favorite toy, the easel. Pic below)

Where I have been working this week, is here:

It is the start of a canvas for a friend. Basically just modeling paste thru a stencil, gesso, and crackle paint right now. I have no real plans of what I am doing next, so keep watching as it evolves. The stencil I used is Boy Genius from artistcellar.com.

The reason I missed last week, is because approximately 6 hours before Julia posted her starter email, I was putting my beautiful kitty to sleep. His name was Spencer, and I was honored to be his Mommy for 21 years, 9 months, and 29 days. (No that is not a typo. I was His mom for over half my life.) It was horrible and heartbreaking, even if it was something we knew was going to be happening soon. In the end, he decided the time. So sad!!

Some of you may notice that I finally finished the daisy canvas. It now says "Bloom" - "Where flowers bloom, so does hope". After I spray it with fixative/sealer, and take some better pictures, I will be listing it on my etsy store. If you are interested, please watch the store at:

For those who are interested in my final coaster pictures.
Those will be featured on Artistcellar.com on February 9, 2013.

Thanks for joining me at my desk this Wednesday.
Remember - "Create every day, and enjoy!""
Lori
